7th Annual Teen Entrepreneurship Conference

The Small Business Development Center at UNF, Junior Achievement, The Jacksonville Commitment, Women Business Owners of North Florida, the Professional Women’s Council of Jacksonville, and Duval County Public Schools

It’s HER Business, Teen Entrepreneurship Conference (formally Girls Going Places®) is a one-day conference for girls ages 15-18 enrolled in high school.  It is designed to encourage financial literacy and help girls learn about starting businesses and managing personal finances through interactive games and hands-on activities.   We use successful local business women as conference facilitators/mentors to share their ideas and experiences with the participants.

GIRLS

  • If you would like to attend the one-day conference you must be 15-18 years of age and enrolled in a Clay, Duval, or St. Johns County Public or Private High School. 
    • Please download and complete the Application and UNF Waiver and have a parent or guardian sign both forms. 
    • E-mail/Scan a copy to: mhague@unf.edu, Fax a copy to (904) 620-2567, or Mail a copy to Small Business Development Center at UNF; 12000 Alumni Drive; Jacksonville, FL  32224 by Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
    • Make sure a copy is returned to your high school guidance counselor or designated teacher.
    • There is NO COST!  Only a limited number of students will be accepted into the program, so get your application in early. Limit of 3-5 students from the same high school. (Breakfast, lunch, and materials are provided)
    • Notice the It’s HER Business Conference will be held during a regular school day.  You are responsible for your own transportation to and from UNF.
    • The deadline is Wednesday, February 1, 2012.  We are only accepting the first 100 applications!

WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS

  • If you would like to share your business story and passion for entrepreneurship as a Volunteer Mentor for this one-day conference:
    • Please download and complete the Mentor Application.  The application must be e-mailed to mhague@unf.edu or faxed to: (904) 620-2567 by the deadline of Friday, January 13, 2012. 
    • Check that you are available to attend the entire conference Friday, March 9th, 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    • Check that you are available to attend the mandatory Mentor Training Monday, February 27th, 4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. at the River City Brewing Company. 
    • The deadline is Friday, January 13, 2012.  Only a limited number of mentors will be accepted into the program.
