Jacksonville Area Nonprofit Workshops Offered

Starting A Successful Nonprofit
May 21
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

The process of transforming your idea into an operating organization can be complicated. This workshop will provide the information you need to start a nonprofit organization in Northeast Florida – begin with an understanding of why you may or may not want to start a nonprofit organization and what opportunities may be available to you.

Major Gift Fundraising – First Step to Success
July 16
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Where will your funding come from in the future? It’s not enough to simply identify funding sources, you have to know they are interested in, and capable of, providing funds for your programs and initiatives. Direct, face-to-face encounters with prospective funders will give you valuable information you need before you ask for their support. A Feasibility & Planning Study provides you with the data and tools you need to successfully raise funds for your organization. Learn what questions to ask, who to ask, and how to analyze the results. A proper Study will explore both internal and external issues, including organizational capacity and capabilities, public perception, and sources and levels of financial support. You will know who makes the decisions, how long the decision process takes, how much you should ask for, and the likelihood of getting what you ask for. This workshop teaches you how to design and conduct a comprehensive assessment and analysis of your potential funding sources.

Nonprofit Strategic Planning
September 17
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

This session is for nonprofit directors, key management, and board members eager to create a mission-fulfilling roadmap that inspires the team, community, and potential funders. Explore the fundamentals of strategic planning, organizational identity statements, and go through a process to define an agency’s competitive advantage in the “marketplace” and help identify Critical Success Factors.

Campaign Planning
November 5
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

There are four steps to successful fundraising – plan, plan, plan, ask. This workshop will take you through the process of planning for a successful fundraising campaign. Based upon Feasibility Study findings, you can develop a comprehensive strategy that focuses on: What you are raising funds for (specific details, including an expense budget); Who will be leading this effort (securing credible leadership with the integrity, affluence and influence to raise funds); When the campaign starts and finishes (timing is critical); Where the financial support will come from (individuals, foundations, corporations, public sector investors); How Much you expect to raise (this also determines how much you ask from each prospective investor); and How (the specific details that are unique to each organization and campaign).

All workshops will be held at the UNF University Center on the UNF campus. For more information or to register call 904-620-2476 or go to www.sbdc.unf.edu
