Copper Coil

We really appreciate the assistance we received from the Small Business Development Center and feel fortunate to have had the resource.

Skyler Deldrago began his journey as a tattoo artist 10 years ago sharing and practicing his talent with family and friends. Although the experience was rewarding, it didn’t take long for him to realize he wanted to become a full-time professional tattoo artist.

After spending countless hours perfecting his craft, Skylar found work at a local tattoo shop in St. Augustine. While working there he met fellow tattoo artist, Michael Franco who was from Connecticut. With Skyler’s experience and Michael’s background in fine arts, both artists became friends and realized how much they had in common.  After two years of working together, they decided to open their own studio.

Skyler and Michael called the Florida Small Business Development Center at UNF (Florida SBDC at UNF) and spoke to Marge Cirillo, the business consultant in St. Johns County. Together they worked on developing a  business plan, revenue projections, marketing, and determining the best entity to ensure a successful venture.

Copper Coil opened in August of 2020 with a staff of award-winning artists specializing in an array of different styles of tattoos. Their biggest challenge now has been handling the high volume of clients wanting tattoos.  They look forward to continuing to work with the community and working towards being known as the number one shop in the area that offers the best professional tattoos in a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all.
