I could not have done this without the assistance of Marge and the FSBDC

Daniel Plummer made a commitment to serve in the United States Army for over 24 years. His duties included managing soldiers and maintaining control in combat situations.

After retiring from the service, Daniel worked in security and then went on to manage several construction sites throughout Duval and St. Johns Counties. As he saw the rapid growth of the population and housing market boom, he decided it was the right time to open a business. There was a demand for trucking services and he knew he could fill the need. Daniel was confident in his ability to operate a single axle dump truck after having operated heavy duty equipment in disaster situations all over the world.

Daniel went to a local lender who referred him to Marge Cirillo at the Florida SBDC at UNF for assistance. Marge was able to assist him with developing a business plan, financial projections and a loan package. His plan was to purchase a truck to haul gravel, construction debris, provide storm clean up, and potentially pursue government contracts.

After completing his business plan, Daniel was able to obtain a loan and formed his corporation, Daniel Plummer Trucking, Inc. He has a growing client list and is working six days a week. His goal is to become a leader in the industry by offering exceptional customer service, quick turnaround time and fair prices.

Daniel says of his experience with the Florida SBDC; “Every existing and potential business owner should call the SBDC”.
