Success Story

Dunmar Group, Inc.

The people at the FSBDC have provided me great advice and assistance. I highly recommend their business support services to business owners that are striving to be successful.

Loribeth Dunman has been steadily growing her company, the Dunmar Group, Inc., since 2009 when she started in Nassau County. The company’s initial focus was in providing construction services and has gradually expanded into providing comprehensive facilities maintenance, landscaping, and construction services. Prior to establishing her company, Loribeth spent over 15 years in the construction and maintenance industry. This extensive experience provided her a firm foundation for building a successful business. The business has steadily grown, over the past 5 years, to include the ability to support commercial clients, government agencies, and prime contractors in the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia regions. Regarding her company’s dedication to success, Loribeth said, “Our ability to provide safe quality workmanship has created a winning combination of outstanding teamwork and success for our customers and employees.” The company consistently delivers quality services while keeping costs within budget and project schedules met. While building the business in a controlled and steady manner, Loribeth’s strategic goals for the Dunmar Group are to expand the geographic areas served and to build a diverse customer base, well beyond the Jacksonville area.

As the company began to grow, Loribeth recognized the strategic importance of obtaining various small business certifications for government contracts. Recently, the Dunmar Group has successfully received acceptance into the SBA 8(a) Business Development program, certification as a woman-owned small-business, and approved registrations for receiving federal government contracts. Upon obtaining these certifications, Loribeth more fully engaged the resources of the FSBDC at UNF through the support of Paul Arrington, Certified Business Consultant, and Don Zavesky, Government Contracting Specialist. As a team, Loribeth, Paul and Don have worked together to ensure that the company’s accounting systems are compliant in support of government contracts, approach to developing business is based on proven industry practices, and bonding capabilities are in place to support contract requirements. The FSBDC team consulting support has included responding to government solicitations; approach to marketing and business development; developing a corporate capability statement; networking with prime contractors and government agencies; utilizing bid matching services; and how to produce proposals for government contracts.

The Dunmar Group’s success is a great illustration of what can result when a hardworking, visionary entrepreneur engages area business support resources. Since establishing her company, Loribeth has sought out and been assisted by a number of area programs and agencies. At the Procurement Technical Assistance Center through the FSBDC, Loribeth has attended numerous government contracting training programs and events. Specifically, one of these training programs included the PTAC 7-J workshop which concentrated on government proposal preparation and capture management. She is a graduate of the Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders program. She is a member of the Florida 8(a) Alliance, a Jacksonville networking and small business nonprofit organization. In addition, Loribeth plans on expanding her business by establishing an office at the Jacksonville Beaver Street Enterprise Center in 2014.

The FSBDC is proud to be associated and in support of Loribeth’s business. The Dunmar Group continues to experience growth and success including growing to employ 11 people in the Jacksonville area; recently receiving multiple contract awards, that are growing in scope and value; and being an active and contributing member of the business community. The Dunmar Group is a great example of how, as a team, together with Florida business owners, we can make a positive impact in the community – one job at a time.
