When we met with Veronica and Jaime, they helped me focus on the next step. Now my products are in three stores in Jacksonville and I am taking phone orders. I am constantly adjusting my recipes and packaging, aiming to sell to big brands, step-by-step with the help of the SBDC

In January 2020, Danmary Brito reached out to the Florida SBDC at UNF, Bilingual Consultant, Veronica Bolado for assistance in starting a business.  Danmary previously owned two restaurants in Venezuela, but needed guidance in starting a business in Florida.  Danmary wanted to bring the authentic flavors of Venezuela to the masses with her made-from-scratch arepas.  Veronica started by helping Danmary through the process of registering her business and obtaining the necessary permits.  Succulent Food Jax was created.  Veronica then connected her with a commissary where she could start cooking her arepas.

When it came time to sell and market her product, Danmary again turned to the Florida SBDC at UNF for assistance.  Veronica and fellow Florida SBDC at UNF, Bilingual Consultant, Jamie Sanchez helped launch her website and analyze her SEO and social media handles.

Succulent Food Jax offers arepas that are unique because they are cooked and then frozen.  They are made with fresh vegetables, antibiotic-free meats, organic herbs and are gluten-free.  Because of the growth of her business, Danmary has now hired employees.  She continues to work with the Florida SBDC at UNF with her sales and marketing strategy and her financial projections.
